Current Work at CoResist

Rights of Nature
Bristol is set to become European Green Capital in 2015. Despite being marred by confusion over the appointment of a Limited Company to coordinate proceedings, and a string of questions around accountability, this presents Bristol with many unique opportunities. CoResist is using the time in the run-up to research and develop a People's Charter to put forward to the city council and become enshrined in a People's Assembly to give Rights to Nature.
Why?....
Despite the proliferation of laws and treaties, destruction of the natural world still continues apace - this is because our legal system which sees nature as "property" is set up to enable it. Rights of Nature can help citizens take action at the at the local, national and European level to change our legal and economic paradigm. We are working with Mumta Ito, founder of the International Centre for Wholistic Law, to make this a reality by working for Bristol to be the first UK city to adopt these rights.

The Power in your Hands
CoResist are strategic partners with Eradicating Ecocide - a charity founded by Polly Higgins to end all ecocides.
Amongst the aims of the charity is to make Ecocide the 5th International Crime against Peace, and - through the Wish20 campaign - to make Ecocide illegal within Europe by 2020.
We are developing a performance based workshop called The Power in your Hands to run in communities and schools nationwide to champion these goals.

Nature Connection
As part of our Young People's Programme, CoResist are developing an arts and nature connection programme to inspire young people to enhance their connection with the natural world. In May 2015 we'll be running a wilderness and bushcraft course for adults. This is a new course, designed and curated by the collective, and promises to be a very special training.
